Staff

What do you do when your research is halted because the chart recorder has stopped working? Or perhaps you require an electronic widget that is not readily available from commercial sources. Dr. Walt Hancock and his staff in the Electronics Shop can solve most of your electronics problems.

Invaluable assistance is also available through the Chemistry and Physics & Astronomy Departments' shared Instrument Shop when your research requires a special mechanical widget. Mike Jensen can construct it in his machine shop. Likewise, Hadrian Duke can repair all types of broken glassware, as well as fabricate special glass items in the Glass Shop that are not available commercially.

What do you do when you need to purchase something for your research but you don't know of a supplier? And you need it this afternoon! Mike Cook and his staff in the Chemistry Department Purchasing Office know where to find things and they know the UNL purchasing system. With their help, purchasing is easy. Staff in the Chemistry Department's research and teaching stockrooms are additional sources for supplies and advice. Their attention to detail is essential for successful operation of the undergraduate laboratories.

New graduate students and staff usually find their way very quickly to the Chemistry Department Business Office. The business office's assistance is appreciated when any of a wide variety of problems arise. They can help you determine which accounts have money, submit research proposals, and insure that you will receive your next paycheck.

In any academic institution, who are most responsible for keeping everything running smoothly? Our business office staff will assist students and faculty with unfailing courtesy and efficiency.

The Department of Chemistry has a large technical support staff that is dedicated to assisting the research and teaching efforts of the Department. In addition to being highly talented, the support staff in the Department of Chemistry at UNL is dedicated to doing whatever is required to help the Department achieve its goals of excellence. This can do attitude is a major asset of the Department.
