Workstations and Data Processing Facility

Room 832 is equipped with several workstations for offline data processing, literature searching, and text editing. The following workstations are available for data processing, all of which are directly connected to the network:

• Two Dell Optiplex Pentium 4 1.8 GHz computers, each with two 80 GB internal hard drives, 24/10/40-speed CD-RW, and an external 250 MB Zip Drive.
  
  
• Two Dell-Dimension Pentium-II 400 MHz computers, 13 GB Hard drives, 128 MB RAM, 8/4/2-speed CD-RW Drive, and internal Zip Drive.
  
  
• Gateway-2000, Pentium-II 450 MHz computer, 80 GB total hard drive space, 128 MB RAM, and internal Zip Drive.
  
  
• Gateway-2000, Pentium 120, 1GB Hard Drive, 20MB RAM.

Also available for in-house use is a 24/10/40-speed USB CD-RW drive compatible with any Windows 2000 system in the data processing room.

Software

Three workstation are dedicated to the Bruker NMR instruments, and have Xwin-NMR 3.5 and Xwin-Plot installed on them for easy data analysis and plotting without learning a third-party software. The FT-IR, UV-VIS, Fluorometer and GC-MS acquisition software is installed on several workstations as well for offline data analysis. Each workstation is equipped with the full Microsoft Office suite for data processing and document editing and Adobe Acrobat for saving documents as PDF files. One workstation is available with a Microtek scanner and Adobe Photoshop Elements for scanning.
