Bruker 300 MHz NMR:
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
This instrument, installed in May 2006, is available for undergraduate students to use for teaching labs and research. The instrument is jointly shared between the Research Instrumentation Facility and the UIC. Reservations for the system can be made online, or by contacting Sara.
This instrument is currently equipped with a Z-gradient QNP probe that is able to detect 1H/13C/31P/19F without changing any probe settings or cable routing. It also has full-broadband capabilities and a VT unit for performing high and low temperature experiments. Primarily students use the instrument in organic lab to identify products made in the lab by acquiring 1H or 13C data. The new NMR system is able to perform much more complex experiments as well, such as DEPT, COSY, HMQC and solvent suppression. The added nuclei will also make the system more useful in the P-chem and Inorganic labs.
