Experiences:

  • 2005 - 2006 -- Worked for Enersys Manufacturing in Hays, KS, doing analytical/quantitative tests on lead-acid storage batteries. Performed tasks using ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma), AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy), X-ray Particle Size, and pH and T.O.C. meters.
  • 2005 - 2006 -- Research project leader for small undergraduate odor analysis project, sponsored by Dr. Eddie Olmstead. Research involved using GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy) to measure volatile compounds in air by collection using SPME (Solid Phase Micro Extraction).
  • 2004-2005 -- Assisted Dr. Thomas Wiese with research on monosaccharide (specifically L-fucose, D-arabinose, D-glucose) metabolism in mammalian cell lines. Experience using enzyme/protein purification and collection techniques, radioactive quantitative techniques, Western blotting, and understanding metabolic pathways in mammalian cells.

Hobbies:

I enjoy creative projects such as sewing or building something. I also enjoy running and playing sports on occasion. I like to travel to places where I can play sand volleyball or go for a beautiful jog through the outdoors. Also, if I have a little bit of time to relax in the evening I really enjoy playing and beating someone in the old 8-bit Nintendo game Dr. Mario.
