Experiences:
- 2005 - 2006 -- Worked for Enersys Manufacturing
in Hays, KS, doing analytical/quantitative tests on lead-acid storage
batteries. Performed tasks using ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma),
AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy), X-ray Particle Size, and pH
and T.O.C. meters.
- 2005 - 2006 -- Research project leader for small
undergraduate odor analysis project, sponsored by Dr. Eddie Olmstead.
Research involved using GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy)
to measure volatile compounds in air by collection using SPME (Solid
Phase Micro Extraction).
- 2004-2005 -- Assisted Dr. Thomas Wiese with research
on monosaccharide (specifically L-fucose, D-arabinose, D-glucose)
metabolism in mammalian cell lines. Experience using enzyme/protein
purification and collection techniques, radioactive quantitative techniques,
Western blotting, and understanding metabolic pathways in mammalian
cells.
