Welcome!

Welcome to the homepage for the Du Group at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Our research deals with the biosynthesis of natural products. We are particularly interested in those structurally complex, biologically active compounds produced by fungi and bacteria. The studies are at the interface of chemistry and biology, including cloning biosynthetic genes, expressing the genes in heterologous hosts, purifying enzymes and characterizing their activities, metabolic engineering through mutagenesis, recombination and fermentation, and isolation and structural determination of metabolites.
