Graduate Program  Supervisory Committee

After selecting a research adviser, the student should consult with the advisor for the names of at least four faculty members who would be suitable to serve on the student's Supervisory Committee. At least four Supervisory Committee members must be Graduate Faculty Fellows. The research adviser will chair the Committee9 and at least one Supervisory Committee member must be from a division other than that of the chair.  In the case that the chair is not from the division in which the student has elected to do research, at least two other members of the Supervisory Committee must be from the division in which the student has elected to do research. The Supervisory Committee must include one Graduate Faculty Fellow from outside the Chemistry Department. A student without a Supervisory Committee by the end of the semester following Ph.D. Nominee classification shall be assigned a Supervisory Committee by the Graduate Committee.

The student, after obtaining the consent of the faculty members to serve on the Supervisory Committee should submit their names to the Graduate Committee Chair for approval. Following approval by the Graduate Committee, the names of the Committee members are then sent to the Graduate College for appointment by the Graduate Dean.
