Graduate Program   Financial Support

The department guarantees each admitted graduate student a Teaching or Research Assistantship. An assistantship is guaranteed as long as satisfactory progress is being made towards the degree. The current annual stipend for a Teaching Assistant is approximately $21,000. Tuition is also waived.

In addition to assistantship support, several types of generous fellowships are available to outstanding applicants. Available fellowships include the Othmer ($8,000 per year), Chancellor’s ($4,000 per year), Larson Minority ($4,000 per year) and Chairman’s ($1,000 per year).

All students who apply for admission will automatically be considered for fellowships. Details of a student’s financial support/awards will be provided in the letter of admission. There are also numerous fellowships available through the university and external funding agencies.
