Fume Hood Usage
Most experienced chemists do all major operations in the HOOD (as opposed to the workbench). Vapors are swept away. If a FIRE should occur, the flames are partially contained. Proper positioning of the EXPLOSION DOORS can give protection to the scientist. Odors are reduced in the lab! In addition, smelly chemicals, e.g. THIOPHENOL may be stored in the HOOD. Generally speaking, the hood should be kept free of non-odiferous chemicals or unneeded apparati.
